Summer Youth Camp
June 17-22, 2019

The Tourism Council of Bullock County is pleased to offer the 14th Annual RDT SUMMER YOUTH CAMP. This year’s camp will be led by award-winning director Kelleybrooke Brown. She is the Executive Director of the Lighthouse Theatre Company in Albertville, AL, and the Lead Director of the Aggie Theatre for Albertville City Schools. For the last ten years, KB (as her students and friends call her) has been working with youth in theatre to create educational experiences through competitions, main stage productions, festivals, workshops, and clubs.

Camp participants will receive instruction in the areas of acting, voice, choreography, & technical theatre. Youth wishing to apply for the RDT SUMMER YOUTH CAMP must be entering the 8th-12th grades in the fall. They should submit an essay (no more than 750 words) stating why they want to participate in the camp and include any experience or training received in theatrical arts or music.

Recommendations from teachers are strongly encouraged. A panel  of judges will select the 15 best qualified applicants. Financial aid for the camp may be awarded to applicants based on available funding and compliance with requirements. Youth not meeting financial aid requirements are welcome to apply and will be accepted on a “first come” basis upon receipt of application and the $200 registration fee.

Camp hours are Monday, June 17th,  through Saturday, June 22nd from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., culminating in a public performance of GODSPELL JUNIOR on Saturday, June 22nd, at 7 p.m.

Summer Children's Camp
June 2-7, 2019

The Tourism Council of Bullock County is pleased to offer the 6TH ANNUAL CHILDREN’S SUMMER THEATRE CAMP. The camp will be led by Director Charity Smith and Assistant Director Beth Beasley each of whom has been heavily involved in all facets of the Red Door Theatre (on the stage and behind it!) for several years. Both were assistants in last summer’s children’s theatre camp. Additionally, not only does each have theatrical experience, Ms. Smith is employed at Conecuh Springs Christian School in Union Springs and works in the after-school program, while Ms. Beasley is a 2nd grade teacher at Vaughn Road Elementary School in Montgomery.

This year's camp will offer SEUSS STORIES, a play that incorporates the telling of famous stories by Dr. Seuss. It is a very flexible show that leaves the door open for every child to play a character they will enjoy portraying! The children will have fun with songs, line memorization games, and other basic theatre tools to guarantee a fun filled performance at the end of the week!

Auditions will be held Saturday, May 4, from 10-11 a.m., and Monday, May 6, from 6-7 p.m. Children must attend one of the auditions. A maximum of 20 children will be selected to participate in the camp.
Camp hours are Sunday, June 2 (parents only) , from 4-5 p.m., and Monday-Friday, June 3-7, from 8:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The week will culminate with the performance of Seuss Stories on Friday, June 7, at 7 p.m.

Children are to wear camp style clothes—  t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers (no open-toed shoes)—and bring a healthy snack & water with their name on it.
Camp applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2019, and mailed to TCBC, PO Box 5236, Union Springs, AL 36089,  or hand-delivered to the Tourism Council Office at 106 E. Conecuh Avenue by that date.
