FEBRUARY 8, 9, 10, & 11 —2018

Upon discovering a stray dog on her back porch, Mattie Rigsbee decides she's too old to keep a pet and calls the dogcatcher. Little does she know that the dogcatcher, Lamar Benfield, will open her eyes to a whole world she never knew existed, a world that includes car theft, prison breaks and a juvenile delinquent named Wesley who is as desperate for a family as she is. Armed with only her mouthwatering corn bread and a deep abiding faith in the Almighty, Mattie is determined to woo Wesley to the side of God and good Southern manners … if she can just manage to stay out of jail herself.

Driving Miss Daisy
BY ALFRED UHRY
DIRECTED BY KATHRYN ADAMS WOOD
APRIL 26, 27, 28, & 29 —2018

Driving Miss Daisy, the winner of the 1988 Pulitzer Prize, is a warm-hearted and humorous story of the unlikely relationship between an aging, crotchety white Southern lady, and a proud, soft-spoken black man. In a series of absorbing scenes spanning twenty-five years. The two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on, each other, until, eventually, they become almost a couple. At the end, when Hoke has a final visit with Miss Daisy, now ninety-seven and confined to a nursing home, it is movingly clear that they have both come to realize they have more in common than they ever believed possible—and that times and circumstances would ever allow them to publicly admit. SPECIAL OFFERING!!! ~ TOURING PRODUCTION ~ RETURN ENGAGEMENT!!!
JASON PETTY’s
Hank Williams - The Lonesome Tour
A ONE MAN SHOW
May 31 & June 1 —2018

HE WAS SO WONDERFUL, WE INVITED HIM BACK!!!
In 2018, once again you will be able to hear the classic tunes of Hank Williams at the Red Door Theatre!

There is only one Hank Williams and only one actor who can bring him to life—JASON PETTY. Jason began portraying the legend, Hank Williams on country music's biggest stage in 1996, the world famous Ryman Auditorium, in the critically acclaimed musical biography, Lost Highway. After two years, he began touring the US, including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and Canada with the show. In 2002, the show went to New York and made its off Broadway debut where Jason earned off Broadway's highest acting award, The Obie, for his riveting portrayal of the musical genius and tortured soul, Hank Williams.

And now, audiences at the Red Door will once again have the opportunity to see Petty’s bigger than life performance in his one-man show, Hank Williams—The Lonesome Tour! The Red Door Theatre is offering this incredible musical production first to our season subscribers who will be permitted to purchase the same number of tickets as they purchase season subscriptions. Orders must be in by January 3, 2018, to receive priority consideration. (This is just one more reason to order season tickets!) Any remaining tickets will go on sale as general admission to the public on January 4, 2018,  on a first-come basis.

The Tourism Council of Bullock County and the Red Door Theatre are excited to offer this outstanding production of the very entertaining JASON PETTY in HANK WILLIAMS—THE LONESOME TOUR.

Steel Magnolias
BY ROBERT HARLING
DIRECTED BY KATHRYN ADAMS WOOD
JULY 26, 27, 28, & 29 —2018

Set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done, Steel Magnolias is filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions. Moving toward tragedy, the young, beautiful, but diabetic Shelby risks pregnancy and her life. The sudden realization of her mortality affects the others, but also draws on the underlying strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.
