We are so excited about 2010! Our goal has always been to offer quality, top-rate theatre in the warm, charming setting of a lovely, small Southern town. We want our guests to experience professional productions while relaxing in an atmosphere of days gone by. This year at the RED DOOR THEATRE, we are proud to announce a season of outstanding productions that are all “Simply Southern.”
Union Springs is conveniently located between Montgomery, Auburn, Columbus (GA), Eufaula, and Troy. We are only 2 hours from Atlanta and Birmingham. Our theatre events are wonderful outings for groups and individuals alike. Many tour groups, church senior adult ministries and Sunday school classes, and Red Hat Ladies visit with us each year. Packages that include overnight accommodations are also available.
The Red Door Theatre’s 2010 season, SIMPLY SOUTHERN, is a celebration of our heritage, culture, and future. Each play being produced is set in the South and was written by a Southern playwright.
CATFISH MOON tells of three middle-aged men trying to recapture their boyhood friendship. CONECUH PEOPLE is a true story of a young boy coming of age right here in Bullock County. In THE WIDOW’S BEST FRIEND, the casserole brigade begins when a prominent citizen of the fictitious town of Persepolis, AL, dies, and his widow retreats under the bed covers. The season wraps up with WISE WOMEN, a poignant Christmas comedy about a single mom trying to guide her teenage daughter when two young women boarders move in and disrupt her efforts.
You are invited to come and experience Conecuh People, the original play that is the cornerstone of the Red Door Theatre, or choose one of the critically acclaimed, Simply-Southern productions we are offering in 2010.
